The Brief

Translate the client’s creative set renders and themes into a realistic and practical scenic build for the Plenary space.

The Challenge

Create a set that looked and felt like a real ski chalet — with no printed textures and a genuinely authentic finish.

Source non-standard, hard-to-find materials suitable for a live event environment and adaptable to reflect the creative vision exactly.

Design the build so the set could be constructed quickly and safely within a limited installation window.

Minimise waste and maximise sustainability using materials that can be reused in a multitude of ways, including within the local community.

Our Event Production Solution

Developed an innovative, modular scenic design using rough-sawn, untreated and stained timber clad to prefabricated panels, allowing for rapid installation and a genuinely authentic finish.

Conducted extensive research with multiple suppliers before selecting a single timber source capable of meeting the creative and technical requirements. Samples were produced in-house and sent directly to the client for physical review and approval.

Engineered the set with weight, portability and speed of build as key priorities. Custom steel panel joints provided maximum rigidity while maintaining manageable panel sizes, and bespoke brackets allowed the structure to be securely mounted to a truss system, preventing sag and flex.

Selected materials and construction methods that allowed the set to be repurposed after the event. Timber elements could be returned to raw materials, converted into hire stock, or reused for future scenic builds, with unusable offcuts designated for community heating use.

Delivered the project entirely in-house through our scenic build and technical production teams, reducing external costs and ensuring full creative and technical control — a capability few technical production companies can offer at this level.
